Ans: Latitude lines run east-west and measure distance north or south of the Equator. Longitude lines run north-south and measure distance east or west of the Prime Meridian.

Ans: The Prime Meridian is the 0° longitude line that passes through Greenwich, England. It divides the Earth into Eastern and Western hemispheres.
Q3. What are heat zones of the Earth?
Ans: The three heat zones are: (1) Torrid Zone — between Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn, receives maximum heat. (2) Temperate Zone — moderate climate. (3) Frigid Zone — near poles, very cold.
Q4. What is Indian Standard Time?
Ans: India follows IST which is 82.5°E longitude, 5 hours 30 minutes ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
