Ans: Latitude lines run east-west and measure distance north or south of the Equator. Longitude lines run north-south and measure distance east or west of the Prime Meridian.

Ans: The Prime Meridian is the 0ยฐ longitude line that passes through Greenwich, England. It divides the Earth into Eastern and Western hemispheres.
Q3. What are heat zones of the Earth?
Ans: The three heat zones are: (1) Torrid Zone โ between Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn, receives maximum heat. (2) Temperate Zone โ moderate climate. (3) Frigid Zone โ near poles, very cold.
Q4. What is Indian Standard Time?
Ans: India follows IST which is 82.5ยฐE longitude, 5 hours 30 minutes ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
