Asexual reproduction (11.1)

Includes Louis Pasteur's experiment on where microorganisms come from, and why refrigeration slows food spoilage.
Sexual reproduction in flowering plants (11.2)
Chromosomes, meiosis and gametes explained with the NCERT bead activity. Parts of a flower, stamen and pistil, complete and incomplete flowers, self-pollination versus cross-pollination, and pollination by wind, water, insects and birds. Fertilisation, pollen tube germination, ovary to fruit, seed dispersal and germination.
Reproduction in animals (11.3 and 11.4)
External versus internal fertilisation compared side by side, reproductive strategies across species, yolk and larval stages, the butterfly life cycle, and how reptiles, birds and mammals care for their young.
Reproduction in human beings (11.5)
Reproductive maturity and puberty, male and female reproductive systems with labelled diagrams, gametogenesis, sperm and egg compared, ovulation, fertilisation and implantation, the menstrual cycle, the three trimesters of pregnancy, childbirth, and care of the newborn and mother.
Reproductive health and society
Menstrual hygiene, mother's health during pregnancy, post-partum depression, the role of ASHA workers, sexually transmitted infections, contraceptive methods including the copper-T, and why prenatal sex determination is prohibited in India. Also covers IVF in India and a made-in-India contraceptive pill.

- Offspring of asexual reproduction are clones โ genetically identical to the single parent
- Meiosis halves the chromosome number so gametes carry half the parent's chromosomes
- Bryophyllum produces plantlets from the margins of its leaves
- Cross-pollination transfers pollen to the stigma of a different plant of the same species
- After fertilisation the ovary becomes the fruit and the ovule becomes the seed
